Yuba County is located in the northern corridor of the California capitol region. Marysville, the County seat and one of the first seven charter cities in California, is located midway between the fast growing metropolitan areas of Sacramento and Chico. Fifty seven miles in length and 22 miles at its widest point, the County is 640 square miles and bounded by Sutter County to the south and west, Butte and Plumas counties to the north, and Sierra, Nevada, and Placer counties to the east. Incorporated February 18, 1850, Yuba County is one of the original 28 counties established in California.

The County has a varied geography, including the confluence of the Feather, Yuba and Bear rivers, wooded mountains, streams, lakes and agricultural croplands that vary from orchards to vineyards.
