Yuba Sutter Area Ranks Third in Forbes
Smaller California Listing

Yuba City and Marysville Good Places to do Business

The Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) which includes Yuba City’s and Marysville’s sphere of influence received a positive rating from Forbe’s second annual "Best Place to do Business" listing in its May 29, 2000 issue. Of 94 California smaller metropolitan areas with populations of 24,000 to 83,000, Forbes ranked the Yuba City MSA third behind Chico-Paradise and Yolo metropolitan areas, and 27th overall nationally.

Forbes examined a number of different attributes to rank each community on its business dynamics and momentum, including relative wage and salary growth, relative job growth, high-tech concentration, tech output growth, and number of tech clusters. The Yuba City MSA scored best on relative job growth and tech output growth, and fared poorest in the category of high-tech concentration.

"The Yuba-Sutter business community has good reason to feel some pride for this accomplishment," says John Fleming, Yuba County Economic Development Coordinator. "The Forbes authors of Best Places to do Business looked at dynamism in establishing this ranking and they concluded that Yuba-Sutter is a pro-business, dynamic community poised for positive economic development opportunities. The opening of the Amphitheatre in June, the Mudcats May 19 season-opener, and the commitment to build a world-class Motorplex are all current examples of business and local organizations forming partnerships to create a pro-business environment that is conducive to growth."
