Gold
Rush Back in Yuba County
Over 100 years ago, the Mother Lode country was changed drastically
due to the discovery of gold -- and, thus, the Gold Rush era -- this
put Yuba County on the map. Today, through building successful
relationships with enterprising businesses, Yuba County has struck
gold again with its announcement of the raceway and amphitheatre
projects, followed by the City of Marysville's announcement of its successful
negotiations to bring back professional baseball to Yuba-Sutter.
The amphitheatre and raceway projects are located in
South Yuba County, off Highway 65, along Forty Mile Road, now
transformed from a 2-lane road to a 4-lane road, encompassing over 700
acres of development. The Sacramento
Valley Amphitheatre is located on 90 acres at the
south end of the raceway project.
Ground was broken on the amphitheater project in July 1999 and is now well on
its way to completion. The $21 million amphitheatre will hold its first
concert on June 12, 2000...click

Progress on the racetrack is at a
much slower pace due to design work still underway. Water and sewer work
is proceeding while the design work on the racetrack facilities continues.
Construction of the drag strip will be the first major track work and is
scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The photo to the right
is an idea of what can be expected once the new raceway is completed. This
photograph is from a similar track in Fontana, California. CLICK ON PHOTO
