TO ONLINE NEWS Marysville has a new museum, courtesy of one of Japan’s largest food companies. The Honda Food Cultural Museum and Communication/Education Center opened last December on the grounds of Shoei Foods USA, a grower, packer and seller of prunes. Shoei is a subsidiary of Shoei Foods Corp. Inc. of Japan. Eiji Honda,
the company’s chairman, founded the museum to show his appreciation
for his company’s trading relationship with the United States. The
4,000-square-foot museum showcases foods from around the world,
including Shoei’s own prunes, chocolates and candies. It also
includes artwork by famed Japanese artist Taikan Yokoyama, a friend of
Honda’s. The two-story
museum, which resembles a farmhouse, features foodstuffs for sale.
There are also guest quarters for people visiting the plant and a
kitchen that will be used by the company for R&D and catering for
company events. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It is located at 1744 Feather River Boulevard in Marysville. For more information, call (530) 742-7866.
