Link to County government homepageGeographically, Yuba County is located in the northern corridor of the California capitol region. Marysville, the County seat and one of the first seven charter cities in California, is located midway between the metropolitan areas of Sacramento and Chico.  Considered the northeastern corner of the Central Valley, Yuba County's economic base continues to offer abundant agricultural crops in a rural setting. Fifty seven miles in length and 22 miles at its widest point, the County is 630.5 square miles and bounded by Sutter County to the South and West, Butte and Plumas Counties to the North, and Sierra, Nevada, and Placer Counties to the East. Incorporated February 18, 1850, Yuba County is one of the original 28 counties established in California.

The County has a varied geography, including the confluence of the Feather and Yuba Rivers, wooded mountains, streams, lakes, and agricultural croplands that vary from orchards to vineyards. Elevations range from 25 feet above sea level to nearly 4,000 feet in the northern part of the County. Weather in Marysville is typically mild, wet winters and hot summers. The average maximum January temperature is 54 degrees and the average maximum July temperature is 96.3 degrees with an annual precipitation of 22.8 inches.

Major transportation corridors include the north-south Highways 70 and 65, and the east-west 20, providing easy access to Sacramento's International Airport, deep-water port, and Interstates 5 and 80. The Yuba County Airport offers a 6006-foot main runway for local flying opportunities and features an annual Air Show. The County is served by the merged Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railways and the agricultural industries rely heavily on truck fleets.

The Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre (Bill Graham Presents/SFX Entertainment) began its first concert season in June 2000 and Feather River Baseball began playing ball in Marysville. The Motorplex at Yuba County will break ground soon to provide car racing enthusiasts with a major Northern California entertainment venue. Nationally-rated golf courses include the Peach Tree Country Club and Plumas Lake Golf Course, Regional parks, including Beckwourth Riverfront Park and Ellis Lake in Marysville, offer abundant sports-related tournaments and cultural events and fairs.

Yuba County features recreational areas such as Bullard's Bar dam and reservoir, Collins Lake, and over 25,000 acres of wildlife area and National Forest land. Numerous duck and pheasant hunting clubs can be found in the County. Marysville, a population of 12,150, and Wheatland, population 1,950, are the two incorporated towns in the County. Other historic communities include Timbuctoo, Camptonville, Camp Far West, and Strawberry Valley.


The Yuba County Airport features a 6006-foot main runway and a 3,280-foot crosswind runway.
