Railroads

There are three rail lines operating in Yuba County:

  • A major north-south link for Union Pacific Railroad.  It connects Yuba County south to Roseville and Sacramento.  It also connects Yuba County north to Redding and Oregon.  The line runs through Wheatland, Linda, and Marysville before crossing the Feather River into Sutter County as one travels north.

  • A semi-major link that connects Yuba County south to Sacramento and north to Idaho via Eastern Oregon.  This line runs through Marysville and Olivehurst and is operated by Union Pacific.  This is also the alternate main east-west line out of for the heaviest freight traveling over the Sierra Nevada to and from San Francisco.  The line over the mountains diverges near Quincy and tunnels under the Beckwith pass, the lowest pass in the Sierra Nevada, 1,800 feet lower than Donner.

  • A seldom-used spur line that connects Marysville with a new industrial park in Yuba City.
