Yuba College moved to its present location in Linda, just outside of
Marysville, on October 1, 1962. Thirteen buildings were
constructed on a 160-acre site, and by 1966, three dormitories had been
added. There are now twenty-two buildings on the site. In
the early 1970's the Colusa Center was established and in 1974, portions
of Yolo, Lake, and Glenn counties were added to the fast growing college
system. A center was built in Woodland in 1976 on leased
property. The center moved to a permanent District-owned site in
1990. Yuba College began offering classes in Lake County in early
1970. In 1973, a teaching center was established at Knocti Harbor
Inn. When the Konocti area voted to align with Mendocino Community
College District, the center moved to its present location in Clear
Lake. That center has two permanent buildings, a cluster of
portable buildings, and active plans for two more permanent buildings.
Currently, the student population
of the Yuba College District, which covers 4,192 square miles, exceeds
10,000. There are 127 full-time faculty members, 23 administrative
personnel, and 225 classified staff members. The district provides
a wide variety of programs in addition to preparing students for
transfer to a four-year college. Shops, laboratories, classrooms,
athletic fields, a theatre, and a library housing over 60,000 volumes
are at the service of students and the community. An experienced
and well-trained faculty offers instruction in over 90 departments
totaling more than 1,000 courses. Occupational, technical, and
general education programs are offered, as well as a complete service
for disabled students, a child care enter, counseling centers, special
remedial classes, and English-As-A-Second-Language courses.
